Urban Farming

ENVIR 240

This urban farming course was extremely educational as well as enjoyable as much of the class was taught through hands-on learning. This class was offered through the UW farm and I was able to learn the different farming methods UW employs to have successful harvests. Overall, this class was amazing due to the professor (Eli Wheat) who cultivated a wonderful learning space and culture. I have never seen a college class that bonded so much over a short period of time and this increased friendship most definitely benefited my learning experiences.

The Global Environment

JSIS B 351

This course was completely asynchronous which led to a unique learning experience as I never met with my professor. The content revolved around the varying scales of earth's ecosystems and how humans interact with them. One element of this class that shaped my learning experience was the requirement of weekly papers. I believe that these assignment helped me hone my writing skill and advance my ability to write concisely.

Sustainable Cannabis

ENVIR 420

This course evaluated the term "sustainable cannabis" and dove into how cannabis affects our current economy as well as environmental impacts. Throughout the class, I was able to hear from guest speakers who each had a unique role in the cannabis industry. This course definitely changed the way I view cannabis and taught me that, in the end, cannabis is just another agricultural crop. I found it amazing that a topic that would often be considered "risky" or "taboo" could be discussed so freely in an academic setting.
